Top 10 to see in 2012!!!

Now, this isn't exactly my first post of the New Year, but it's the first that resolves around 2012 itself. I've done this every year for at least the past 5, so this year is going to be no exception.

1. The Avengers
The comic phenom that has been building up since IRON MAN first came out in 2008 and is accumulating on the big screen this summer. After 2011's CAPTAIN AMERICA and THOR, I cannot wait to see this film and story finally come together. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Joss Whedon (someone I have been a huge fan of since Buffy) is directing this iconic film. May cannot come soon enough.

2. The Dark Knight Rises
The overall 7th Batman film to hit the big screen, might be the most epic. After the DARK KNIGHT who can really think something can upstage that epic film? Well, after seeing the teaser and official trailer (and a shitty version of the prologue) I can honestly say that this could very well be an even bigger film. Christian Bale and Chris Nolan wrap up their seven year epic franchise with a film and cast that is sure to please. And with Tom Hardy joining the cast and portraying Bane, I think he's going to rival the screen presence of Heath Ledger as Joker. This film could be one to remember.

3. The Amazing Spider-Man
Reboot already? It's only been four years, but hey it's freaking Spider-Man. New cast, new director a whole new story and beginning. I'm extremely excited about this film, Andrew Garfield made a great impression on me with his portrayals with SOCIAL NETWORK and NEVER FORGET ME, so I'm very interested to see how he takes on the persona of Peter Parker and Spider-Man. And we finally get a great story about his epic love Gwen Stacey, that will hopefully be properly told. Plus, new villian Lizard is going to look awesome!

4. The Hobbit : An Unexpected Journey
Has is it really taken almost 10 years to finally get the HOBBIT on the big screen? Well, yes it has and it's going to be the late icing on the cake that was the brilliant Lord of the Rings trilogy. It comes as no surprise that Peter Jackson is coming back, even after all the disasters and incidents that almost lead to this movies faulting end, but it stayed strong and finally is coming and the audience is excited.

5. James Bond 007 : Skyfall
I'm not the biggest James Bond fan, I honestly can say I have only seen a handful of the older Connery and Moore films, and parts of Bronson's take of the character, but I do love CASINO ROYALE and enjoyed QUANTUM, so I'm extremely excited for Daniel Craig's return for his 3rd Bond film. And with Sam Mendes helming this one, it can only be more awesome than it's previous installments.

6. Moonrise Kingdom
Wes Anderson is back, and I'm excited. A beautiful looking film that looks like this possible great coming of age movie of the year. Last years HUGO and SUPER 8 were great films in that style, and I'm excited to see a more realistic and hearth touching story portrayed by Anderson. And who doesn't love a film with an amazing cast (Bill Murray, Bruce Willis, Ed Norton, and Jason Schwartzman).

7.Django Unchained
Another film by one of my favorite film makers, good old Tarantino. His new film set in slave driven South, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx. Not much has been said about this film, and no trailer or set photos have surfaced, so not much to report other than I'm excited for a new film by this awesome director.

8. Gravity
An almost complete question mark of a film, dark film maker Alfonso Cuaron returns after a nearly 5 year break from his last epic film (CHILDREN OF MEN), I'm more than excited for a new one by this brilliant film maker, especially since this is another sci-fi thriller.

9. 5-Year Engagement
Judd Apathow produced. Jason Siegel and Emily Blunt starring. For me, that's enough said. Looks funny and very well done. Excited for this possible sleeper comedy hit. Looking forward to this April hit.

10. Prometheus
I've only recently was exposed to the ALIEN franchise, and although they are no STAR WARS or BLADERUNNER sci-fi epic-ness, but they are extremely well done and Ridley Scott returns to the character and story he created in this visually beautiful epic sci-fi film. With an all-star epic cast (including new man-crush Michael Fassbender) this is going to be a definite hit, with thrills and visual galore.

Thats a quick wrap on my Top 10 to see for this year...now the waiting game....
